The Vocal Performance Workshop emphasizes
performance skills and vocal technique for musical theatre,
opera, art song, jazz, and pop/rock vocals.
All classes are taught by professional
vocalists, stage directors, and performers with degrees
in their field. This workshop is appropriate for singers of all levels. It is designed to encourage you
to push your creative limits no matter how old you are or how much experience you have.
Daily Voice Lessons
With a 30-minute accompanied voice lesson every day you'll have
a rare opportunity to explore and improve your vocal technique.
This is one of the features that sets Wunder Studios' workshops apart from other vocal programs. Have you ever had a great voice lesson where you finally conquer a vocal problem only to find that you can't repeat the feat the next day? Imagine what can happen when you have a great lesson day after day for a whole week. Students often have wonderful vocal breakthroughs at the workshop. This is an outstanding opportunity to transform your vocal technique and discover your true voice.
Audition Workshop
In this completely unique program you will learn how to
meet the challenge of auditioning with daily classes and
mock auditions. The audition workshop fosters an understanding
of the psychological and physical aspects of performance
anxiety and the development of the skills you need to perform
well under pressure. You'll audition every day, under a
variety of circumstances, receive immediate feedback from
compassionate professionals, develop confidence, and
learn how to succeed.
Master Classes
Every day features a master class with a guest clinician. Learn as performances are transformed before your eyes,
or sign up to perform in a master class and work with the guest
instructor in front of the class. Our guests
include professional vocalists, actors, stage directors,
and artistic directors from the fields of musical theatre,
opera, and the concert stage. Past guest clinicians have
included Theresa Brancaccio, Kathleen O'Brien-Dietz, Jennifer Fitch, Elizabeth Gottlieb, Elizabeth Grizzel,
Karen Hall, Kurt R. Hansen, Nancy Henninger, Jan Jarvis, Darrelyn Marx, Mark Meier, Myron Myers, Martin Pazdioch, Amy Pickering, Nancy Pifer, Alvaro Ramirez, Cole Seaton, and Scott Uddenberg.
Performance Technique and Career Building
The workshop includes daily classes in interpretation, staging, and performance preparation. There are also interactive lectures on vocal and performance career topics where you can gain valuable insight on what it takes to succeed. Additional private coaching voice, interpretation, diction, and staging is available for a fee.
Performances
Every day offers performance opportunities and each week concludes a thrilling public performance.
Application and Audition
The workshop program is limited to 18 students aged 13 and older. No prior experience is required, but every applicant must complete an audition to qualify. Please call Wunder Studios to schedule an appointment. Out of town applicants may arrange to submit a recorded audition and letter of recommendation.
Tuition, Scholarship and Discounts
Workshop tuition is $795 and includes all classes, five private lessons, and all accompaniment. Registration remains open until the workshop is full. There is an early-bird discount for advance registration and payment. Complete your registration and payment by March 20, 2008 to receive an early bird discount of $50 per session. The "Bring a Friend" discount offers a $50 reduction to any student who brings a new student to the workshop. These discounts may be applied for a total savings of $100. Students registering for more than one workshop can receive a savings of $50 in addition to the other discounts. Limited scholarships are available. To request an application call 847/685-2030.
